This camping adventure takes you on a roundtrip of Namibia exploring the most prominent highlights any Namibian adventure must include.
The cosmopolitan city of Windhoek serves as the capital of the country and is situated in Central Namibia.
Day Itinerary
When you arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport you are met by the car rental company representative who transfers you to Windhoek. Upon arrival at the car rental the friendly rental agent then takes you through the car rental contract as well as explain all the rental conditions. You are then conducted a thorough demonstration of the vehicle before you depart to your guesthouse in the city.

The Kalahari, which translates to ‘the great thirst’ is an extraordinarily beautiful living desert with large semi-arid sandy savannah landscapes. The Namibian part of the Kalahari is home to red sands covered in thin, wispy, mostly golden grass and dotted with acacia trees and wide-ranging wildlife such as gemsbok, impala, jackals and cheetah.
Day Itinerary
Breakfast is early, between 7 Am and 10 Am and afterwards you will depart from the guesthouse. The first stop is the grocery store to stock-up on all your supplies for the trip. Do not forget lots of water and cold drinks.
Proceed out of Windhoek heading south on the B1 where your journey takes you via the historical town of Rehoboth and the village Kalkrand enroute to Bagatelle, your retreat for the night in the heart of the Kalahari.
Bagatelle has various activities to choose from, including cheetah feeding, sundowner drives, cultural tours, etc.
Located just north of Mariental, Namibia, Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch Campsite offers guests a lovely camping experience set in tranquil surroundings. Guests can enjoy meals and drinks at the nearby lodge restaurant and bar. Other lodge facilities campers have access to include a swimming pool and a library. The Fish River Canyon is Africa’s largest and the world’s second-largest canyon measuring 160 kilometres in length, at times 27 kilometres in width and 550 metres in depth.
Day Itinerary
Today you venture further South into the Namibian landscape towards the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world and the largest in Africa.
There are guided as well as unguided walking trails around the lodge and the Fish River Canyon Viewpoint is just a short drive away.
A nature lovers paradise with lawn and shade trees and there is also a swimming pool.
Location: approximately 20 km east of the Fish River Canyon on the C 37
Campers are welcome to make use of the lodge facilities.

Sesriem is situated 65 kilometres away from the dunes at Sossuvlei and Sesriem Canyon.
Day Itinerary
Today you drive to Sesriem, the entrance to the world-famous Namib Naukluft Park which is home to the magical Sossusvlei and Dead Valley. You will arrive in the afternoon when it is normally too hot to go to the dunes, but the sparkling swimming pool at Sesriem makes up for this. Have a dip in the cold water!
Accommodation: Sesriem CampsiteLocated perfectly at the entry to Sossusvlei inside the park gate is Sesriem Camping, right beside the gate into the desert and just a short drive from Sesriem Canyon where centuries of erosion have incised a narrow gorge about 1 km in length.

Today you proceed via the town of Solitaire on the C14, where you can stop for some famous apple pie, towards the coastal town of Swakopmund, your home for the next two nights.
BB accommodation is suggested for the two nights at the coast.

Swakopmund is the adventure capital of Namibia so make sure to enjoy some of the many activities on offer, including boat cruises with seals and dolphins, desert tours with 4×4 to Sandwich Harbour, a former whaling station, or to explore the Little Five which hide in the desert.

Damaraland is home to Twyfelfontein, a World Heritage site with age old rock paintings and engravings and hosts other attractions such as the Burnt Mountain, Organ Pipes and the Petrified Forest. While in this area, be on the look-out for the desert-adapted elephant that roams the area.

Palmwag is a nature reserve idyllically located along a palm-lined tributary of the Uniab River. The reserve is notable for its unusual species of palm tree, the hyphaene petersiana, and for being home to the largest population of southwestern black rhinos in Africa. Animal lovers can also get a peek at leopard, lion, cheetah, mountain zebra, Angolan giraffe, springbok, kudu, and African bush elephant.

Your journey heads further north to Palmwag, a large conservation area and home to a variety of game. There are regular visits by elephants to the lodge grounds so keep an eye out for these big feet!
Accommodation: Palmwag CampsiteHome to whispering palms and the western desert wilderness, Palmwag Camp is a retreat with a difference. Here is where you will find the desert adapted elephants and the largest predator population outside of Etosha National Park.

Most campsites are situated next to the riverbed with splendid views. Each one has a power point, a light, wash basin and a fireplace. The communal ablution facilities provide hot water showers. Breakfast excluded.

Situated in the Kaokoland area of Namibia, Epupa Falls lies near the border of Angola. The falls consist of a series of cascades created by the Kunene River as it drops 60 metres, forming hundreds of natural pools that provide the Himba people and visitors with a fantastic recreation spot.

Driving further north, via Sesfontein and Opuwo, today you head to the far northwestern region of Namibia, Kaokoland, home of the ancient Ovahimba Tribe and the Epupa Waterfalls.
Your lodge for the next two nights are set on the banks of the Kunene River.
Waving Makalani Palms welcome guests into their embrace as they arrive at this unique destination. With the Epupa Falls just a stone’s throw away, this is a place of stunning tranquillity. Home to various traditional Himba Tribes, striking sunsets and access to the beautiful Kunene River.

Hoada Campsite, a hidden gem nestled 75 km west of Kamanjab on the captivating C40 road.
Day Itinerary
Depart from Epupa and return south, this time, towards the Grootberg area which is rich in flora, wildlife and geological beauty. The campsite is literally set between “a rock and a hard place ” and boasts magical rock formations, incredible sunsets and private isolated campsites.
This is often declared everyone’s favourite Namibian campsite!
Hidden among large grey granite boulders and Mopani trees, Hoada Campsite offers travellers a serene home in the wilderness of Namibia. Each campsite boasts its own braai area and kitchen facilities with running water. There are also ablution facilities, with flush toilets, hidden amongst the rocks.
The Group campsite can take up to 14 guests and have male & female ablution facilities

Located in the south-central area of Etosha National Park is Okaukuejo Restcamp.
Day Itinerary
Enter Etosha National Park today through the Anderson Gate that leads to the popular camp Okaukuejo. The floodlit waterhole is where all the magic happens so make sure you spend both nights watching the nocturnal animals as they come to satisfy their thirst.
Accommodation: Okaukuejo Rest CampLocated in the south of Etosha National Park, Okaukuejo Rest Camp was formerly a military outpost founded in 1901. The property features a nearby waterhole, which is a hub of animal activity starting in the early hours of the morning. After sunset floodlights illuminate the waterhole, which is the best time and place to see the endangered black rhino.
Okaukuejo Rest Camp offers a wide range of accommodation, as well as some necessities, such as a petrol station and a shop. The restaurant and bar offer refreshments and delicious meals, while the swimming pool offers relief on hot days.

Halali is situated in the centre of Etosha National Park.

Drive to the centre of Etosha to spend one night at Halali Camp, the central camp inside the park and often declared one of the best places to view game. The floodlit waterhole at night is once again the highlight of your evening.
Accommodation: HalaliIn an otherwise flat area Halali Campsite is perched between a few hills and koppies. Thicker vegetation makes this popular with leopard, rhino and elephant. Situated halfway between Namutoni and Okaukuejo, the Halali Campsite is centrally located in close proximity of some of the most popular waterholes of the Etosha National Park. A short walk will take you to the camp’s floodlit waterhole with excellent day and night game viewing.
Halali offers active guests the largest pool in the park and its strategic location between Namutoni and Okaukuejo makes it a great stopover for lunch, ice cream, a cool drink or just petrol.

Situated east of Etosha, bordering Fisher’s Pan, Onguma Game Reserve is one of Namibia’s best-kept secrets. The reserve offers visitors the opportunity to experience Africa in all her beauty and diversity. Onguma Game Reserve features over 34000 hectares of protected land scattered with a variety of wildlife including plains game, black rhino, kudu, giraffe, zebra, lion, cheetah, leopard and more than 300 bird species.

The Onguma Game Reserve is just outside Etosha’s von Lindequest gate on the eastern side so allows you to enter the park from sunrise to sunset for more game viewing adventures.
This luxury campsite set under shades of trees in the African bush also boasts a waterfall to enjoy game viewing at night.
The facilities of Onguma Bush Camp are available to camping guests. Meals need to be booked at the reception well in advance to avoid disappointment.
The Onguma Campsite is fenced in, however adult supervision of children is required at all times.

Day Itinerary
Drive south from Etosha via Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo to your final stop in Namibia, the Omboroko campsite situated at Okonjima, Home of the Africat Foundation. This international award-winning lodge brings you in close contact with Namibia’s large carnivores in their natural habitat.
Visit the Africat Foundation to see the rescue, nurture and rehabilitation work that is done for leopard, brown hyaena and pangolin at Okonjima.
Camping in Okonjima Nature Reserve epitomises the African safari experience. Your small group or family can become one with nature as they visit the Carnivore Care Centre, track leopards and cheetahs, learn about the indigenous people during the Bushman trail, and grow attuned to the sights, sounds and ways of Namibia’s grassy plains. The four, partially-equipped, private campsites share a swimming pool at the foot of the Ombokoro Mountains and are located in the 2000ha non-rehabilitation area. All four sites boast spectacular sundowner viewpoints.
